John PackwoodFounder & CEO
John is the Founder/CEO of SIDE.
John began his career at Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS – TMX Group), the world’s second largest post-trade financial services company. He was responsible for managing all technology services delivered to over 100 Financial industry participants and was a significant contributor to the CDS Interlink Program – a no touch money market/debt trading facility of 120 billion dollars daily. Following completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC Honors) and becoming a Registered Representative (IIROC regulated), John joined CDS Innovations as Managing Director, and reported in to the company’s CEO for business & technology integration initiatives.
Following his tenure at CDS, John worked in New York for Goldman Sachs / New Era of Networks focusing on institutional equity sales and trading, as well as, related trading and post-trade technologies. John then went on to join Fidelity National Information Services as Vice-President, where he led both the sales and full delivery of the Mutual Funds Order Management System for RBC Royal Bank’s MFDA (1,300 Bank Branches) and IIROC Dealer (1,200 Advisors).
John SerpaFounder & CEO, Keystone Fund Solutions Inc
John has 20+ years’ experience in the investment management industry. He began his career at one of Canada’s premier boutique Hedge Funds and has since directed the end to end development, deployment and operation of multi-asset Buy-Side operating platforms. He ascended the ranks through progressive promotions and is credited for transforming the operating model at an emerging asset manager, into a leading-edge platform capable of servicing a diverse multi-billion-dollar fund lineup. John has significant experience with Excel, Pacer, Bloomberg, SSC Recon, GWP, AIM, and has utilized these technology platforms while leading cross-functional teams with a mandate to increase efficiency and reduce cost in a variety of areas, including fund launch, external audit and operations.
With deep industry knowledge, capable leadership and cross functional expertise John founded Keystone Fund Solutions – an open-sourced operations service platform that includes consulting services. The platform and associated consulting services focuses on delivering operational efficiency and cost control to a diverse group of asset managers and is available through SIDE Securities Industry Data Exchange.
Joachim (Yogi) GolleChief Technology Officer
Joachim (Yogi) Golle is SIDE’s CTO and the principal architect of our SIDEchain application. In the last several years Yogi has developed significant expertise in Distributed Ledger Technologies, including use of advanced consensus algorithms and advanced security features (Key Management), as well as, architecting scalable DLT solutions. Prior to joining SIDE, Yogi worked in First North Consulting’s Data & Analytics division where he delivered regulatory compliance projects for key First North customers, including RBC.
Yogi’s has 20 years’ experience in Workflow Automation, Application Architecture and Business Application Development at IBM and has worked with IBM’s Lotus Notes, WebSphere, IBM Infosphere and related technologies, such as DataStage to deliver numerous Enterprise Workflow Automation Applications at IBM. Yogi’s depth of experience, coupled with his extensive DLT knowledge gained in recent years, has enabled him to successfully lead SIDEchain in becoming a scalable and highly secure production application.
Tim DesjardinsHead of Development
Tim is SIDE’s Head of Development, including for SIDEintegrate, our data integration technology application. Tim has over 25 years of software development experience building enterprise systems for a variety of industries including: financial services, utilities and marketing. Given his Financial Markets experience (including with Bank of Montreal) and his knowledge of both industry standard protocols (e.g. FIX) and enterprise data warehouse technologies, Tim is the lead developer for SIDEchain.
Tim graduated from the University of Waterloo with Honours Bachelor of Mathematics majoring in Computer Science in 1990.
Glenn GoucherExecutive Advisor
Glenn was most recently President of CDS and CDCC, fully owned subsidiaries of the TMX Group that are responsible for clearing, settlement and depository functions for the Canadian cash and derivatives markets. He is a globally recognized expert in market infrastructure who has been at the forefront of the evolution of post trade in the post credit crisis environment. Prior to these roles, he led the Montreal Exchange derivative market business development and operations functions.
Before joining the TMX, Glenn managed business development activities for a major Canadian bank with a focus on Exchange traded derivatives, and he was a portfolio manager at a provincial pension plan responsible for fixed income and derivative investments. Glenn is an engineer, with an MBA who has also completed his CFA.
